MRS. KIRBY'S FUNERAL
A Remarkable Old Lady Borne to Her Final Resting Place.

The funeral of Mrs. John Kirby, whose death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald, near Vale Summit, Wednesday morning, as noted in the Times, took place yesterday morning from St. Michael's church at Frostburg. The interment was in the cemetery connected with that church. The following were pall bearers: Michael O'Rourke, Michael Sullivan, James Scally, Henry Kain, Michael Condon and Thomas Condon.

Mrs. Kirby was a very old lady and was at the time of her death one of the oldest, if not the oldest, woman in Allegany County, being ninety-one years of age. For sixty-three years she had been a resident of this county. She not only had a large relationship, but an extensive acquaintance throughout this section. A remarkable thing about this venerable old lady was that at the time of her death she had forty-eight grand children and thirty-five great grandchildren, all of whom are living.

In addition to this she was the mother of two sons and six daughters, all of whom survive her excepting one daughter, Mrs. K. Cordial, who died about a year ago. The surviving children all live in this county excepting the oldest daughter, who resides in Minnesota.

The esteem in which the deceased was held was attested by the large concourse of friends in attendance at the obsequies.
