Mrs. Thomas Basham The funeral of Mrs. Thomas Basham was held at her home near this city, on Friday morning and was conducted by the Rev. Harvey S English of Stephensport, pastor of the Hites Run Baptist Church. Mrs. Basham died at 5 o'clock Thursday morning, following an illness of several months. She was the daughter of Milton Hawkins and the late Mrs. Hawkins, and was 55 years of age. Mrs. Basham was born and reared in Breckinridge County. More that 30 years ago she was married to Thomas Basham, who with the following children survive; Hobart Basham of Alexander, Illinois, Lonnie Basham, Mrs. Hubert Greenwood, Mrs Silas Hawkins, and Miss Maydee Basham. She is further survived by one brother, Richard Hawkins, and 2 sisters, Mrs. D E Chapin and Mrs. Joseph Smith. Mrs. Basham was a devoted mother, and for many years had been a member of the Hites Run Baptist Church. She was a woman who spent the greater part of her time within the bounds of her home and was happy in the company of her large family of children, all of whom are married with the exception of the youngest daughter. For several months Mrs. Basham had been in the constant care of her sister in law, Mrs. Mollie Furrow, who is now at the Basham home. The burial was held in the Cloverport Cemetery and the pallbearers were, Roy Chapin, Layman Hawkins, Herbert Rush, Ed May, Lloyd Basham and E W Frey.
