Idella Brown passed away peacefully in the comfort of family in Fargo, ND, the evening of Sunday, April 3, 2011.

The daughter of Macie and Marion Phernetton, Idella was born September 23, 1934. She grew up and attended school in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, where as a senior in high school she won the Snow Queen pageant.

Idella married the Reverend J. Russell Johnson in 1952, and had two children, James and Kristine. As a family they lived throughout the upper Midwest.

Idella spent many years working at Nels Vogel Music of Moorhead, where she met and married musician Ray Morrau in 1965, together having a son, Jeffrey.

Nels Vogel is where she became lifelong friends with Doris Wright and Eloise Snell, who taught her the benefits of a good cocktail mixed with endless laughter. Mom went on to work in banking with Norwest.

In 1974, she married David Ames. Dave was a wonderful stepfather, teacher and friend. She retired from Wells Fargo and moved to Colorado.
Idella was predeceased in 2005 by husband Dick Brown of Colorado and Fargo, a fine gentleman she loved very much. Together they built a beautiful home in Detroit Lakes, MN, after enjoying many years in Fort Meyers, Florida. Through the transitions of life, she was steadfast with love and pride for her children, grandchildren and family, and carried deep faith in the Lord. There is no equal to Grandma GG's cooking, and her Christmas baking is legendary. Idella was the consummate hostess, quoting many times "Your guests should be in want of nothing." Her parties and events were second to none. Always lively, with something sassy to say and pep in her step, Idella enjoyed gardening, golf, dancing and long afternoons of sunshine on the deck.

Those left to share her legacy include children James (Nancy) Johnson, Arlee, MT; Kristine Rogne, Fargo, ND; and Jeffrey (Pamela) Morrau, Fargo, ND. Brothers, Joe and Don; Sisters, Shirley, Louise Margaret, and Eileen (passed), eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and more friends than room to publish. She will be immensely missed by all. We love you, GG.

Memorial Service: Saturday, April 9, 2011, 3:00 PM at Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church.

Celebration: "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Usher's House of Fine Dining, Moorhead, MN.
