Major League Baseball Player, Manager. He played Major League baseball for seven seasons (1890 to 1894, 1897, 1900) as a shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Beaneaters (Braves) and the Cincinnati Reds. A native of Marion, Ohio, he played baseball growing up with future United States President Warren G. Harding. He was the Phillies starting shortstop from 1890 to 1894. After the Phillies did not renew his contract, he left the Majors for three years, but came back in 1897 for the Beaneaters. Used mostly in reserve for Boston, he retired after the end of the season. He later managed the Reds, and appeared in 5 games for them in the 1900 season.
