Brett J. "BJ" Harris (1976 - 2012)
Brett J. Harris "BJ"

BJ Harris, 36 of Hockessin, DE, moved onto Eternal Life on Friday, December 28, 2012.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 19, 1976, BJ moved to Delaware in 1983 with his family. His childhood was spent in Elsmere, growing up inside a community of people that he loved dearly. He attended Corpus Christi School, St. Mark's High School and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in exercise physiology. He devoted his life to the people he knew and loved. BJ spent the majority of his professional life working as the business manager for The Chesapeake Inn and La Casa Pasta. Through hard work and dedication, he was instrumental in the growth, expansion and success of both restaurants. As he did in his personal life, his professional life was devoted to helping people find enjoyment and happiness wherever they found him.

BJ enjoyed traveling, particularly to Ireland where he volunteered for Pacem in Terris at youth development camps designed to integrate Catholic and Protestant children.

BJ was pre-deceased by his grandparents, Irene (Brady) Siddons and William D. Siddons; as well as his close childhood friends, Michael J. Rooney and Charles Cavanaugh, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his mother, Barbara J. Harris; his brother, Brady W. Harris and his wife, Rebecca; his nephews, Michael and Mack; his uncle and aunt, William D., Jr. and Kathleen Siddons; his cousins, Amy Karr and Lt. Andrew Siddons; and his beloved dog, Chunks.

In addition to his immediate family, BJ leaves behind his extended families and his many friends, both in the United States and Ireland. Everyone who knew BJ knows that his kindness, his generosity and his loyalty were genuine, and his love of his family and friends was unconditional and absolute.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, January 3 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Friday, January 4 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of BJ may be made to Pacem in Terris, 1304 N. Rodney St., Wilm., DE 19806-4227.
