Merle E. Harrold, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Merle was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Smithton, the son of the late Jesse J. and Bessie I. Fair Harrold. Merle was a former member of the Church of Christ in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and was formerly employed as a job setter for the General Motors, Parma, Ohio, plant retiring in 1984, and as a custodian for the Hempfield School District. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Goldie Marie Barnhart Harrold; a daughter, Cindy Marie Harrold; brothers-in-law, Dennis Barnhart and Donald Barnhart; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Merle was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Walter, Glenn, Floyd, Arthur, Braden, Edison and Oscar Harrold; and sisters, Grace Harrold, Virginia Johnson, Dorothy Milliron and Edna Badger. In honoring Merle's request, services and interment will be private.
