"Mr. Fred Irvin Watson, 94 years old of Talpa passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

"Fred was born August 7, 1918 in Mathis, Texas to Irvin Watson and Mattie D. Cofflin. After studying for 2 years at Texas A&M, he enlisted in the Army and served thru the rank of Staff Sargent. Fred then attended Army Air Forces flight training in Lubbock, gaining his commission in 1944, he retired a Second Lieutenant in May of 1955. After retiring, he began ranching in South Texas, and enjoyed that life until retiring in 2002. He was married to the love of his life; Christine Margaret Mullanax for many years, she proceded him in death in March of 2012.

"Survivors include 1 daughter; Martha Nell Nixon of Talpa, 1 son; Kenneth Watson of George West, 1 brother; John Watson of Dallas, 1 grandson, several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends and masonic bretheren.

"Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be held in the Walker Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Interment service following in the Valera Cemetery along with Military Honors. Interment will be under the direction of Walker Funeral Home."
