"The death of William D. Barney, formerly a resident of Milford, and Bowerstown, near Cooperstown, occurred at Sanford, Fla., Friday afternoon of last week. He was forty-eight years of age. Mr. Barney was the second son of the late Ellery Barney and was born in Milford. He resided in that place until about fifteen years ago when he moved to Bowerstown, where he conducted a blacksmith shop. In Florida, he was engaged in market gardening. He had hardly arrived there upon his return from Milford, when his brother, Dr. C. S. Barney, received a telegram, Saturday, from his wife, announcing his death. He immediately started for New York, to meet her returning with the body. They arrived in Milford, Saturday evening, at 5 o'clock, and the funeral was held from the home of his brother, Kent Barney, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. E. R. D. Briggs officiating, with interment among his kindred in Milford cemetery. He is survived by his mother and the relatives above mentioned all of whom have the sincere sympathy of the community."
