Parents; Philip & Lola (Denzer) Garver.
She attended school in Strasburg and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1937, and then attended Otterbein College, Westerville, OH, from which she graduated with a BA in 1941. She furthered her education at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, where she received her MN in 1944.
She was employed as a nurse at the New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT, from 1944-1947. During this same period, she also served as an instructor for the Yale University School of Nursing in New Haven.
After her sons left home, she returned to nursing in 1968 at the Kansas University Medical Center, eventually becoming the head nurse of the Infectious Disease Unit. She retired from KU Medical Center in 1986 after more than 18 years of service.
Surviving family include two sons, Rev. Arthur Clippinger and John Edward Clippinger and his wife Pranom, all of Baldwin City, KS; granddaughter Mary L. Clippinger, Baldwin City, KS; and two sisters, Frances Garver, Cleveland Heights, OH, and Esther Jeffers, Thousand Oaks, CA.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Dr. John A. Clippinger, and one sister, Helen Haas.
