Born on August 13, 1933 in Madison County, MO to the late Augustus R. Melton and Gwendlian (Rosell) Melton. Fred worked for over 25 years for the Ford Motor Company. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son James in 1971 and two sisters, Margorie Humes and Erlea York. Fred will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: three sons, Kevin Melton and wife Amanda of Edgar Springs, MO, Alfred Melton and wife Mary of Salem, MO and Leonard Melton of Edgar Springs, MO; two daughters, Pearl Cooley and husband Mike and Sharon Melton; all of Salem, MO; one brother, Lee Dale Melton and wife Ruby of Arnold, MO; and one sister, Betty Shaw of Newburg, MO; eleven grandchildren, Dakota, Oriona, Anthony, Seth, Aden, Nathainel, Aurora, Thomas, Curtis, Catrina and LaDonna; one great grandchild, Ace; and the children's mother, Gayle Melton of Salem, MO.
