W. Meredith Blevins, 65, Woodward, died Wednesday in Woodward Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Freedom High School Auditorium.

Winston Meredith Blevins was born in Haskew community July 23, 1919. He attended Sunnyslope school, and graduated from Freedom High School in 1937. He attended business college for one year at Dodge City, Kans. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in September 1940, at Ft. Sam Houston, Tex. He received the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in France, Holland and Germany. He was a Technical Sergeant for the 45 Infantry Division. On July 7, 1942, he was married to Mary Zander in San Antonio, Tx. they made their home in San Antonio before moving to the Haskew community in 1947. He later married Esther Anderson. He owned and operated the Blevins Lumber Company in Freedom until 1963. In 1967 he became the Veterans Administration representative for the Northwest District. He has farmed since returning from service in 1947.

He was a member of the Freedom Christian Church, Freedom Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star, The American Legion, Woodward VFW and the Woodward Elks Lodge.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Howard (Penny) Brown, Owassa, Mich.; Mrs. Susan Scott, Amarillo, Tex.; Mrs. Jerry (Abigail) Call and Mary Elizabeth Blevins, both of San Antonio; one son, Michael Shea Blevins, Yukon; his mother, Mrs. Edna Blevins, Freedom; one sister, Mrs. Cecil (Allene) Nixon, Freedom; one brother, Wyman Blevins, Mooreland; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
