Deceased Name: Victor D. Lemmon
Longtime Dubois resident Victor D. "Vic" Lemmon died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Salt Lake Veterans Nursing Home.
He was 74 years old.
Cremation has taken place, with a celebration of life to be held over the July 4th weekend at the home of their daughter and son-in-law on the Wind River in Dubois.
Victor Dewayne Lemmon was born Feb. 21, 1937, in Silver City, Utah, to Luella Mae (Shepard) and Eldon Lee Lemmon.
He was graduated from Granite (Utah) High School and attended the Radio Institute, graduating as an electronic technician.
As a civilian, he went through the Department of the Air Force to become a general high quality operator to work on the underground missile sites in various states.
In his youth, he caught wild horses with his family off the Utah desert to break and sell as rodeo stock.
His family said he had a great love of horses his entire life and loved to ride the mountains of Wyoming - packing in, hunting, camping and fishing.
He and his wife, Pauline, were self-employed business owners.
They owned the Grub and Tub and the Laudromat/ Car Wash in Dubois for many years. Mr. Lemmon successful artist, both as a painter and a sculptor, for which he received many awards for over the years.
His greatest accomplishment was the presentation of his bronze "40th President, Lot of Grit" to Ronald Reagan while he was in office.
He also co-authored the book "Old Guide Remembers, the Young Guide Finds Out" with his old friend and teacher, Joe Back.
Mr. Lemmon is survived by his children, Karrie and Bob Garcia of Dubois, Victor Kevin Lemmon of Long Beach, Calif., and Kathie and Barry Akins of Dubois; sister Louise Goulding; brother Reed Lemmon; sister-in-law Betty Lemmon; grandchildren Ryan and LaCrista Garcia, Stacy and Clint Baird, Chad, Mandie, and Tyler Sather; great-grandchildren Olivia and Gracie Baird and Ethan Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters and five brothers.
