Funeral services for Mary Catherine Carse, 78, a resident of Oakland Manor Nursing Home, were held Saturday at Sharon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Harvey of Carson officiating. Mrs. Carse died November 10 at the nursing home where she had resided for the past four months. She was born January 23, 1921 in McClelland to Arthur P. and Mary Katherine (Thayer) Briggs. She was a lifelong resident of the Carson area. On November 7, 1953 she was married to Marvin O. Carse.
Survivors in addition to her husband include, two daughters, Ann Vorthmann of Oakland and Lynn Stortenbecker of Carson, two sisters, Sadie Briggs of Oakland and Barbara Deitchler of Silver city and one brother, William Briggs of Ogallala, NE.
Burial was in Belknap Cemetery in Oakland. Vieth Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
