Lydia B. Bishop, a former owner of Bishop’s Nursery in Pacific Grove, died Dec. 12 at Santa Cruz Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was 57. Born April 23, 1924, in Lemoore, she lived on the Monterey Peninsula from 1930 until retiring to Santa Cruz in 1973. Together with her former husband, James Bishop Jr., she owned and operated the family nursery until 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Mary E. Hammond of Prunedale; son, James D. Bishop III of San Luis Obispo; and a grandson. Cremation has taken place at the Little Chapel by-the-Sea in Pacific Grove. No services are planned. Inurnment will be at the El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
