Chickasaw Bayou Press. 1998. Hampton Wall was born August 17, 1830. At the age of 31 he enlisted in the Amite Guards which became Company B of the 33rd Mississippi Infantry Regiment and was elected 2nd Lieutenant. On April 7, 1863 he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. Wall was commanding the Company when he was wounded at the battle of Peachtree Creek (GA) on July 20, 1864. He died September 14, 1907 and is buried in the Hampton Wall cemetery, Amite County, Mississippi.

Hampton Wall was born in Amite Co., Miss., Aug. 17, 1830. At his death his age was 77 yrs. and 28 days. He was married twice; his first marriage was to Miss Martha A. Dye; his last marriage was to a Miss Clarinda Tate. His last marriage was blest with the parental care of 7 children, of which 4 survive him.
He united with Jerusalem Church in Amite Co., near where he was born and raised, while young, and remained a faithful member until he drew a letter of dismission and united with Line Creek Church Nov 11, 1894, where he remained a faithful member until death.
His last illness was of short duration. He leaves a wife, 4 children, 2 sisters and scores of relatives and friends to mourn for him. The funeral services were conducted by Elders G. N. Bankston and I. E. Corkern.
