Son of Arthur Crocker & Mary Ann Bryant. Husband of Susannah Catherine. Father of William, Dorcas, Rhoda, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, James, Nancy, Arthur, John, and Susannah. "South Carolina Sharpshooters" Solomon Crocker is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A027924.Solomon was a carpenter as was his father and his father's father. He assisted in the construction of Fort Seneca in Western South Carolina. Solomon was one of the many heroes in the Battles of Cowpens South Carolina. Mother's name is best evidence. Could be Thomas but doubtful. Solomon and his brother Anthony in 1779 fought eight months against the Indians . "A History of Spartanburg Co."page 22. Three of Arthur's sons are veterans of the Revolutionary war Anthony, Solomon and William. Anthony was in the battle of Stono 13 Feb 1779 under Cap Thomas and Col John Thomas of which Regiment James Lusk was adjuntant, Battell of Kings Mountain, then onto Siege of Augusta under Col Elijah Clarke, next to Siege of Ninety Six under Gen Greene, afterwards at the Battle of the Cowpens under Morgan with 17th and the 18th of January 1781. In 1832 Anthony was asked to speak at the celebration Greenville SC newspaper "The Mountaineer" January 25, 1835. Quoting A. Crocker (Revolutionary Soldier) "The Cowpens--where 54 years ago, we freed the south from British Tyranny: and if any should attempt to oppress us again we will put them into Bullpens."

A dedicated descendant Terry Crocker and his wife Debra McBrayer Crocker are working tirelessly to clean up and document the site. Thus far they have counted at least thirty six graves. update 11/22/19 43 graves and counting. Terry is constructing a beautiful cross for each gravesite located.
