World's best husband, dad and grandpa, Paul Provence of San Bernardino went to Heaven on Dec. 22 after a brave battle with cancer. Born July 6, 1939, Paul grew up in Mountain Home, AR and enlisted in the US Air Force after graduating from Mountain Home High School in 1957. While stationed in Berlin, he met the love of his life, Liv, who he married on Dec. 27, 1962. His death was just five days before their 50th anniversary.
Paul faithfully served his country as an Air Traffic Controller, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired in 1980, and then continued his career with the Federal Aviation Administration and Lockheed Martin, before packing away his briefcase in 2007. A lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, Paul also was a car enthusiast, who enjoyed NHRA drag racing, traveling, working on home improvement projects and always being there for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Liv, daughter Jackie Lyon (Doug), daughter Cheryl Donahue, grandson Jake Donahue, and three sisters, Alice, Linda and Larraine.
Services will be Jan. 4, 2013 at 10:30 am at Bobbitt Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino. Military Funeral Honors will follow at 1 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 1, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society .
