Earlene Dinkins Sanders, 63, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia. Born March 14, 1946, in Sumter County, she was the second oldest child of the late Walter and Susana Loney Dinkins.

Earline received her education from the public school of Sumter County and was a 1964 graduate of Ebenezer High School.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Rafting Creek Baptist Church, where she was president of the Pastor Aide Ministry, a member of the Senior Missionary Society, Hospitality Ministry and attended Sunday School faithfully.

Earlene was married to the late Ernest Sanders Sr. and from this union four children were born. One son, Darren Wayne Sanders, preceded her in death. Earlene was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was employed with the Sumter County School System until she retired. She was a dedicated caregiver to the elderly and young children in the community.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: two sons, Ernest (Beverly) Sanders of Fayetteville, N.C., and Derrick (Debra) Sanders of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Tracie Sanders of the home; a devoted grandson, Zedrick Sanders; an adopted son, Jermaine (Tonya) Dinkins of Fayetteville; seven sisters, Susie (Paul) Grant of Brandywine, Md., Shirley Pittman of Fort Washington, Md., Elease Gravett of Forestville, Md., Earnestine Dinkins and Ezvonne Govan of Oxon Hill, Md., and Deborah Garnett of Capital Heights, Md.; five brothers, Richard and Thomas Dinkins of Oxon Hill, Walter Dinkins Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Robert (Polly) Dinkins and Robert (Alzaria) Pollard of Rembert; five other grandchildren, Keegan L. Sanders, Jordan A. Sanders, Ian (Katie) Sanders, Courtney Sanders and Susan Sanders; nine sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; five special friends, Louis Bradford, Lily Mae Clea, Nancy Sanders, Margaret Davis and Evelyn Sanders; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rafting Creek Baptist Church, S.C. 261 North, Rembert, with the Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor, eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Lorenzo Dinkins and Minister Wanda S. Martin.
