David S. Person, age 49, of rural Marshall, passed away at his residence on Monday, February 13, 2012. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18th at the Marshall Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

David Scott was born on January 2, 1963 in Alexandria, MN to parents Normand L. and Vivian (Matheson) Person. He was dedicated in the Christian faith in Rose City, MN and attended school in Spring Grove, MN and Cono Christian School in IA. David obtained his GED after moving to Tyler, MN with his parents.

On December 10, 1983, David was united in marriage to Jill Marie Boerner in Cottonwood. They lived and made their home in the Marshall area where he had a lawn care and snow removal business. His enjoyments in life were spending time with family and friends, woodworking, mud racing, photography, writing and tinkering on various projects around the farm. Whatever he did he always paid attention to detail and did it right the 1st time.

David passed away at his home in Fairview Township with his loving family by his side, after battling cancer on Monday, February 13, 2012. He had reached the age of 49 years, 1 month and 11 days.

He is survived by his wife, Jill of Marshall: son, Daniel Lee Person of Russell; mother, Vivian Person of Marshall; three siblings, Bonnie (and Jim) Thomasson of Marshall, Duane (and Becky) Person of Herman, NE and Lorrie Verstraete of Marshall; parents-in-law, Duane (and Eunice) Boerner of Marshall; brother-in-law, Curt Boerner of Marshall also many nieces and nephews. He was very proud of all his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Normand and his grandparents.
