Emma Crayton Sawyer, daughter of John K Sawyer (1830- ) and Emma C (1826- )was born in the town of Hornellsville, Steuben County, NY. Hornellsville became a city in 1888 and is now known as Hornell.

On April 14, 1881 she married Daniel Trumbell Hale in Hornellsville. Daniel Hale, son of Daniel Hale, Jr (1814-1884) and Emily Chidsey (1822-1890) was born on Dec 20, 1858 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus County, NY.

Sometime prior to 1888 Daniel and Emma moved to Brooklyn, NY where Emma gave birth to three children:

Hattie May Hale-Olsen (1886-1945)
Harry Sawyer Hale (1888- )
Emma Day Hale (1892-1895)

Emma Sawyer-Hale died on May 7, 1905 in Brooklyn, NY. She was buried in The Evergreens Cemetery, plot #198 Bethel Slope.
