Archibold Area News:
We find that by accurate measurement more than twelve inches of rain fell Sunday evening, which was the greatest ever heard of here for the length of time.
Last Week on Monday afternoon during the thunder storm Samuel Aeschliman, living southeast of town, went out to cover his binder which stood not far from the house, and while thus engaged, lightning struck the binder, glanced off and took the top of Mr Aeschliman's hat, then passing through the rim to the ground. He was taken to the house in an unconscious condition but regained consciousness in a short time. His little daughter stood near him at the time but was in no way injured. Mr Aeschliman was on our streets Friday. He indeed had a very close call and hopes it will never be repeated.
