THOMAS COCHRAN DIED RECENTLY AT EARLHAM

Long-Time Resident Passed Suddenly at His Home in That Community

Earlham - (Special)--Thomas Cochran, a resident of Earlham for 20 years, died at his home here Dec. 29. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Cochran's health had been impaired since suffering a stroke five years ago. However, he had been well enough to go down town Friday morning, and his death came suddenly that afternoon.

Mr. Cochran was born near Muscatine on May 14, 1860. He spent many years of his life on a farm south of Earlham. His first wife the former Alberta Faustno, died in 1930, and he subsequently was married to Mrs. Alta White of Dexter, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Mrs. W. O. Ory of Winterset, Mrs. Bernice Witt of Des Moines, and Dr. H. R. Cochran of Sheldon.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church, Dec. 31, in charge of the Revs. Freedline of Dexter and Cecile Latta of Earlham. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Thomas Cochran, son of Robert and Jane Cochran was born near Muscatine, Iowa, May 14, 1860, and departed this life on December 29, 1939 at his home in Earlham. Mr. Cochran lived most of his life in Iowa, a few years at Audubon, Iowa, and the rest of his life at Earlham. Mr. Cochran was married to Alberta Faustno. To this union three children were born: Mrs. W. O. Ory of Winterset, Mrs. Bernice Witt of Des Moines, and Dr. H. R. Cochran of Sheldon, Iowa.

Mrs. Alberta Cochran, his wife, passed to the great beyond July 30, 1930 after a short illness.

Mr. Cochran was united in marriage to Mrs. Alta Whited of Dexter, at Maryville, Missouri, June 9, 1932. He was engaged in the buying and feeding of stock and spent most of his active life in the Earlham community.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, and two daughters, Mrs. W. O. Ory of Winterset, Mrs. Bernice Witt of Des Moines, and a son, Dr. H. R. Cochran of Sheldon, Iowa, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers were: Gladstone Foster, Harry Foster, Albin Olson, J. H. Junkin, A. B. Schalkle, all of Earlham and Mr. Switzer of Dexter.
