Jack E. Hill, 45, died at 9 am May 13, 2009, at his residence.

He was born March 16, 1964, in Lima, to Jack Hill Jr. and Ladonna Sellers Hill. His parents survive in Lima. On November 15, 2007, he married Michelle Grenig Hill, and she survives.

Mr. Hill was a 1982 graduate of Elida High School and a 2000 graduate of Rhodes State College, where he earned an associate degree in design engineering technology. He was past president of Chapter 97 of Society of Manufacturing Engineers of Lima. He was a member of Tau Alpha Pi Honor Society of Engineering technicians and a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautic Association.

He was a member of his local SME chapter, and worked and retired after 11 years from James A Rhodes State College in August 2007 as an engineering tech. He worked for 23 years for Shawnee Optical as a licensed dispensing optician. He loved building and collecting model card, trains, planes and anything he could get his hand on. He will be truly missed by his loving wife Michelle, who has cared for him since he became ill with ALS.

Jack would like to thank all who came to his call when he needed assistance, and wants all of you to know that he lived his last years to the fullest. Thanks to all who walked with Jack the remainder of his life. Special thanks to St Rita's Hospice and Home Health Care and the neurology medical staff at Cleveland Clinic.

Survivors also include two sisters, Leslie (Nick) Huber of Lima and Lisa (Bruce) Hill-Fried of Arlington, Virginia; in-laws Richard and Rose Mary Grenig of Garfield Heights; his dear friends Tim and Laura Freed and Dave Bean, all of Elida; a godson Alex Free; and many nephews, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. David Brown, evangelist Mike Hartman, and brother in Christ Bob Kuhlman officiated. Burial is a Woodlawn Cemetery.
