BARBARA JANE GARRETT KLINGENSMITH KAYE of Alexandria, VA died at home after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Berkeley and Mary Loretta O'Neill Garrett and was of the Roman Catholic faith. Preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Richard Melvin Klingensmith and sons, Richard Arthur Klingensmith (4-14-2012) and Thomas Edward Klingensmith (1973), surviving are daughters, Kathryn Ann (Christopher) Renwick of Alexandria, Judith Lynn (Stephen J) Comiskey of Doylestown, PA, Jane Mae (Matthew Thomas) Meskill of Oregon; daughter-in-law, Linda Jaccard Klingensmith of Warrenton, VA; sister, Mary Loretta (John) O'Connor of Plainfield, NJ; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Barbara graduated from Mount St Joseph Academy for Girls in Philadelphia, attended Penn State, retired from AARP and served as a member of Ronald Reagan's Inauguration Security Staff. A Memorial Service will be held January 5, 2013 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Alexandria.
