Roy Richard Apker, age 79 years, 7 months, 29 days, of Wonewoc, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin. He was born April 15, 1933 on the family farm in Wonewoc, Wisconsin, the son of Russell and Eileen (Salchenberger) Apker.

He was united in marriage to Caroline Rollins on July 27, 1957 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wonewoc.

Roy served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
He was owner of the Sinclair Service Station in Wonewoc for 17 years, and then worked as an agent for Axa Equitable Insurance until his retirement in 2008.

Roy was dedicated to the Wonewoc Community serving as a member of the WABC, treasurer for St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and former Chief of the Wonewoc Fire Department. As the past commander of the Clark Gurgel Post #206, he was very instrumental in establishing the Veteran Memorial and the American Legion Hall in Wonewoc, Wisconsin.

He also served on the board of Acupuncture for the state of Wisconsin.

Roy liked fishing, golfing, and being a handyman. He was a great supporter of Wonewoc-Center, making all of the sporting events, watching his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by:
…his wife Caroline;
…Three sisters: Karen Dempsey, Carolyn Becker, Wanda (William) Drea;
…In-Laws: Clarence (Elaine) Rollins Gail Rollins, Darlene Kopenhafer, Ronald (Sandy) Rollins.

Roy was preceded in death by:
…his parents and
…his brother Earl.

Visitation for family and friends was held on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home and on Saturday, December 22, 2012, from 12:00 noon until time of service on at the Church.

Funeral Services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Peter Snyder officiating.

Burial with Military Honors followed at the Pine Eden Cemetery in Wonewoc.
