Murdered by her boyfriend, Orlando Trejo. A suitcase containing the body of Kimberlie Rose Romo of Azusa was found in a closet of the El Monte home of Emelia Trejo, the killer's's mother, in the 12100 block of Hallwood Drive, El MOnte. Romo died of asphyxiation due to strangulation. Romo, 21, did not live with Trejo, but sometimes stayed overnight at a guest house on his mother's property, said her cousin, 25-year-old Olivia Estrella of Azusa. Romo always enjoyed giving more than receiving, Estrella said.
Family members of Romo decorated her grave at Oakdale Memorial Cemetery with a Christmas tree in December, 2004, and other items during the holidays. The decorations withstood the rain, said her mother, Norma Romo.
