Born December 30, 1956, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, he was a beloved son to Pauline Pecco Hackney of Belfry and the late Rev. Joe Hackney Jr. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Hackney of Tennessee.
Jerry, a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps, was a disabled veteran who proudly served his country. He completed basic training at Paris Island, S.C., and while stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., he served in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of Belfry Chapter #141 Disabled American Veterans.
Jerry was a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church and he loved the Lord with all his heart. He is at peace now and walking on the streets of glory with Jesus.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenna Sue Hackney, loving mother, Pauline Pecco Hackney; two sisters, Judy Hackney Rollins — his twin sister and whom he called his Guardian "Hark" Angel, and Linda (George) Brown of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Jack (Carol) Hackney of Belfry, and Gary (Sonya) Hackney, of Williamson, W.Va.; four children, Jerry B. Hackney Jr., Jerry Joseph Hackney, Cory Hackney Coleman and Timmy Hackney Thacker; one beautiful granddaughter, Jayla Hackney; and a host and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church, Belfry, with Rev. Buddy Kendrick officiating and Pastor David Kilburn assisting. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky., where he will receive Military Funeral Honors conducted by Belfry Chapter #141 Disabled American Veterans with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
