ABBEVILLE - Anne E. Oliver, 94, of Abbeville, widow of Dr. A. Grady Oliver, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2012. Born on August 6, 1918 in Ninety Six SC, she was one of nine children born to the late William Thomas and Annie Smith Ellenberg. After graduating from Emmanuel Junior College, Mrs. Oliver taught school for several years. After her marriage in 1943 to A. Grady Oliver, she devoted the rest of her life to her husband, family, community and church. In the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mrs. Oliver used her musical talents as pianist and as a choir member for many years. She also served in other capacities as Sunday School teacher and as a leader in the Women's ministries. Her commitment to prayer helped launch several ministries, including prayer/ service groups for service men and women, for our nation, and for college students. Her love and devotion to her four children and their families was evident to all who knew her. These last three years, Mrs. Oliver resided at The Gardens at Eastside in Greenville SC, and attended Greenville First Assembly of God until a few weeks before her death. Survivors include children, Miriam (Mim) Burton of Anderson, Mitchell and Debbie Oliver of Lilburn GA, Tom and Kathy Oliver of Greer SC, and Chris and Judy Baker of Greer SC. Other survivors are grandchildren Edward and Heather Burton, Daniel and Jodie Burton, Elizabeth and Brian Tasker, Bradley and Taylor Oliver, Matthew and Kristy Oliver, Ashley and Matt Gaymon, Brent and Lena Baker, Andrew and Brittaney Baker, Rachel and Houston Goodwin; and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Oliver is also survived by three sisters, Grace Ellenberg, Lois (Rangely) Price, and Jo Clair Taylor. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
