FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TUESDAY FOR TUCKER C. WATKINS
Tucker Carrington Watkins, Jr., 80, of Halifax died Sunday. Founder and president of U.S. Oil Co. of south Boston, he was a former member of the State Highway Commission and a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Watkins was a native of Halifax county and maintained an active interest in the affairs of the community. He attended the old Cluster Springs Academy before graduating from VPI and was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Barksdale Watkins; a daughter, Mrs. Henry W. McLaughlin, Jr. of Halifax; a son, Dr. William Watkins of South Boston and a sister, Miss Mary Bailey Watkins of Drakes Branch.
Mr. Watkins was a brother of the late Dr. Thomas Watkins, who practiced medicine here for may years before his death in December, 1968.
