* Samuel Metcalf, son of Ebenezer Metcalf and Margaret Rockwood.
Sgt. Samuel Metcalf was born 26 April 1739 in Rutland, MA and died 13 June 1785 in Oakham, MA. He was a Minuteman who turned out at the Lexington Alarm of 19 April 1775 in Capt. John Crawford's company, Col. Jonathan Warner's regiment. He served in the Revolution in 1777 and 1778.
