Bishop Henry Joseph Thünemann OSFS

Born in Kalkputs on July 22, 1898. Ordained a priest in the Oblates of St Francis de Sales on August 15, 1922. Appointed Vicar Apostolic of Keimoes, South Africa and Titular Bishop of Adrasus on July 9, 1940. Consecrated as Bishop on October 3, 1940 by Archbishop Bernard (Giordano) Gijlswijk OP, Bishop Joseph Klemann OSFS, and Bishop Franziskus Xaver Hennemann SAC.

When the Vicariate was elevated to the Diocese of Keimoes on January 11, 1951, he was elevated from Vicar Apostolic to Bishop of Keimoes, South Africa. He retired on September 12, 1962 as Bishop of Keimoes, South Africa and was appointed Titular Bishop of Corydala the same day. He passed away in Pella on August 18, 1965, age 67 and was buried in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Pella.
