MEEK Florence "Flo" Meek
Florence "Flo" Meek, born November 16, 1939 in Tampa Florida, went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2011. She lived a life full of constant faith and sacrifice. Florence and her husband Jim settled in San Antonio after living in various locations here and abroad. Jim died in 1992 after which she raised her two boys as a single mom. Flo, a devout member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, held various positions in the parish office while the Meek family shared their love of music together for years performing at mass and numerous church functions. Flo also proudly spent many years as a second grade teacher in the NISD. She is survived by her two sons, Jim & Tommy Meek as well as her sister Margaret Sanchez and many nieces and nephews. She is pre deceased by her parents Tom and Thelma Hughes and brothers Mike and Patrick Hughes. Although she battled MS for the last 15 years her positive outlook on life inspired family and friends and she was loved and admired by all that knew her story. Her passing leaves an incredible void for many; however, her memory and influence will remain with us for generations. Visitation will be held at the Castle Ridge Mortuary on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Celebration of Life starting at 7:00 PM.
