Mildred Bertha Simmons, age 94, of Shelton, died peacefully of causes incident to age Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls.

Mildred was born July 19, 1918 at Clark, Idaho a daughter to John Alfred Brown and Sarepta Angenette Gatchell Brown. She attended the Clark school and graduated from Rigby High School and Ricks College.

She married Golden Hall Simmons November 15, 1938 in LaBelle, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as a Relief Society teacher for many years and was a long-time visiting teacher. She was an active member of the Sarah Howard Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She worked at Carson Nursing Home in Rigby for 11 years and at Idaho Fresh Pak in Lewisville. She made patchwork and Levi quilts that she so willingly gave to family. She enjoyed textile and oil painting, embroidering, reading, fishing and she loved going over to the Ririe Senior Center. Mildred was a faithful and good woman who will be truly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Pine Brook facility for the compassionate care they gave Mildred. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mildred's funeral expense.

Survivors include her children: Marlene (Dee) Larson of Loveland, Colorado, Anna Jean (Ned) Sweat of Iona, Idaho, Cheryl (Richard) Lee of Payson, Utah, Jeanette (Glen) Gray of Johnstown, Colorado, Jon Edward (Barbara) Simmons of Shelton and Rodney Lynn Simmons both of Shelton, Idaho, a sister Lois Young of Rexburg, Idaho and a brother Kenneth (Jean) Brown of Rexburg and St. George. Mildred has 32 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Laval Dee, one daughter Ronda Lee and sisters Barbara Brown, Ellen Brown, Maxine Smith, Jennie Rawlins Matson, Mabel Rasband and.

Funeral services will be held Monday December 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ririe LDS Stake Center, 14061 North 130th East, Ririe, Idaho. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
