An early member of E Clampus Vitus in California, he was involved in fabricating the famous "Drake Plate" of brass that was incorrectly identified as authentic and provided as proof that Sir Francis Drake landed in the bay area of California.

George Haviland Barron, then curator of California history at the de Young Museum; as curator, he lived on the museum grounds with his family.

per 1910 census, Married to Florence Yates, they were the parents of John H Barron , P H Mccarthy Barron, Richard D Barron, Anna Barron and Dolores Ann Barron Scoble 1905-1988

Later census show a Jack and a Henry in household, Jack may be John and Henry may be P H Mccarthy Barron.
