George L. Vaughn (sic), a well known and highly respected citizen of Grand Island, passed away Saturday evening about 9:30 at his home in West Lawn after an illness of one day of acute indigestion and other ailments incident to old age. Mr. Vaughn was taken suddenly ill on Friday afternoon about 4 o'clock. Everything possible was done to relieve his condition, but all efforts were of no avail and he passed away on Saturday evening. Mr. Vaughn was a resident of this city for the past 38 years, conducting a quite extensive dairy business, which he continued to do up to the time of his death. He was born in Aurora, Ill., on Dec. 10, 1843 (sic), and was 72 years, 9 months and thirteen days of age at the time of his demise. Besides his bereaved wife, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Lamon, and two sons, Harry Y. and Floyd C., besides three grandchildren, to mourn his untimely loss. The family as the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sad loss. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home in West Lawn. Rev. Jackson of the Baptist church, will officiate.
