TROUP - Services for Jack Denton Wilson, 93, Lake Jackson, formerly of Troup, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Lake Jackson, with Charles Geller officiating under direction of Lakewood Funeral Home, Lake Jackson.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bradford Cemetery, Troup, with Bishop Joe A. Wilson officiating under direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mrs. Wilson died March 23.
She was born Dec. 20, 1909, in Troup to Clay and Mentie Denton. She grew up in Troup and, after graduating from high school, she attended Texas Women's University and North Texas State University. She taught in the Omen, Salem and Troup schools in Smith County. She lived in Houston and moved to Lake Jackson in 1949. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and helped organize the first Lake Jackson Garden Club and Brazosport Hospital Authority.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper L. "Bo" Wilson, and sisters, Florine Davis and Fletabel Briggs.
Survivors include a brother, three sisters; six nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Lake Jackson, or to the charity of one's choice.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday at the funeral home in Troup.
