Helen E. Lawrence, 97, residing in Marcellus, MI formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away at 10:15 AM Monday, December 24, 2012 in her home. She retired as a Visiting Nurse in 1980 after 35 years of service as a Registered Nurse. Helen was born October 17, 1915 in Goshen, IN to the late Purl and Orpha (Hershberger) Zook, and lived most of her life in the Michiana area. On February 25, 1940 in Goshen, IN she married Richard Charles Lawrence, who preceded her in death October 18, 1992.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by two daughters, Susan (Leon) Kindt of Marcellus, MI and Jeaneen (David) Klahr of Granger; five grandchildren, Corinne Klahr Van Arsdale, David Lawrence Kindt, Arnold Ross Klahr, Julie Kindt Kirner and Richard Lawrence Klahr; and eleven great-grandchildren. One brother, Robert Zook preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lawrence was a committed member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. South Bend and New Creations Fellowship, Granger and member of the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of Eastern Star-Rose Croix Chapter and of the Epworth Hospital Nurses Association.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, where friends may visit Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Graveside services and burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen, IN.
