Ruffin - Clyde Douglas Stephens, 68, of Guerrant Springs Road went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Doug was born on September 16, 1944, in Ruffin to Hiram Clyde Stephens and Mamie Cross Stephens. He attended Ruffin High School and enjoyed an early retirement from Duke Power in order to pursue farming full time. Preceded in death by his parents, Doug is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Nichols and her husband Michael of Halifax, Va. and his son, Michael Stephens and his wife Meredith of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren include Emily Powell and her husband Jason of Clover, Va, Carol Anne and William Nichols of Halifax, Va. and Megan, Laura, James and Sarah Stephens of Thomasville, NC. Doug, with his girlfriend Patsy Queen, attended Happy Home Congregational Christian Church. The family will receive friends at Happy Home Congregational Christian Church, 6995 NC Hwy 700, Ruffin, on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 1:00-2:00, immediately followed by a graveside service. Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the Stephens family with the arrangements.
