Lois R. Wilcox, 85, of Tunkhannock, formerly of Jermyn, died Monday at Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock. She was the wife of William L. Wilcox, who died in 1991. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late William G. Ruger and Jesse Macdonald Ruger. She was a retired dressmaker who worked at Jermyn Dress and several other area dress factories. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jermyn.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn (Jean) Corker, Factoryville; a brother, Calvin Ruger, Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters, Audrey Wible, Washington D.C.; and Jesse Parish, Wilkes-Barre; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Marcinkavich Tarbrake; a son, William M., who died Sunday; three brothers, Hugh, Daniel and George, and two sisters, Huldah Dempsey and Anna Whiting.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., with the Rev. Arthur Davis, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at the family’s convenience.
