Born March 20, 1914, in Washington, D.C., to Claude U. and Alma Poppen Stone, she married Sherwood M. Day on Aug. 31, 1934, in Peoria. He died July 5, 1983, in Peoria.
Surviving are one son, Steve (and Wendy) of Morton; three grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; one brother, Claude (and Mary) Stone of Morton; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1953 graduate of Bradley University, she was a teacher at Rolling Acres Middle School in Peoria District 150 for 14 years, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association; and the African Violet Club, Peoria Chapter.
Entombment will be in Parkview Mausoleum in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
