In the name of God Amen
I John Gandy being old and much diseased in body but in common mind and memory do constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following

first I resign my soul to God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter name (d)

I appoint my sons Thomas H & Henry H Gandy Executors of this my last Will and Testament Item first I hereby authorize my Executors at any time after my death should they believe it to be beneficial to my heirs to sell or otherwise dispose of any of my lands which are not now bargained off with this Exception my beloved wife shall during her widowhood have the privilege to reserve to herself any part that she may think proper

Item Second I wish my wife to keep together all the negro property which I may die possessed of and for them to be Treated with humanity But to be kept at regular employment for the Separt [separate] use of my heirs however I grant my Executors the power to sell any of my negroes if they believe it to be for the advantage of my heirs with one Exception Judy an old negro woman is not to be sold under any circumstances but is to be kept with some one of my family and comfortably supported her lifetime out of my Property

Item third I wish my debts all paid as soon as convenient and then for the Remainder of my property (viz) horses cattle hogs and sheep the crop that is now on hand with the provisions a yoke of oxen and cart plantation tools house hold and kitchen furniture and every Species of property not herein named is to Remain with my wife and the family that she may have for their support But any part thereof which she may not be advantageously employed my Executors will dispose of to the greatest benefit to the whole of my heirs

Item fourth Should my beloved wife cease to be a widow or after her death my desire and will is then that the whole of my property be lawfully and Equally divided between all my heirs (viz)
Wiley - Thomas, Daniel Elizabeth James, Harvey, Henry Hardy, Mary Martha, Chloe and Sylvania

Item fifth I will have it further observed that when any of my children who are now single marry there shall be the same amount in value Given to them that I have given to those of my children who are already married

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of November in the year of our Lord on thousand Eight hundred and forty
