Thursday 23 October 1952:

"Robert Leonard Codire, 71, died this morning at his home, 84 West Fairview Street. Stricken suddenly with a heart attack about four o'clock, he passed away within a half an hour.

Mr. Codire owned and operated a restaurant on Fairview Street for forty years. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and Piedmont Aerie 707, Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret Clancy Codire.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Keller Codire and one son, William John Codire, 156 West Fairview Street; two sisters, Miss Mamie Codire and Mrs. Margaret Murphy, and one brother, Patrick Codire, West Fairview Street. A son, Robert Codire, was killed in an automobile accident in 1942.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery."

"Requiem Mass for Robert Leonard Codire, 71, who died last Thursday at his home, was celebrated Monday morning in St. Peter's Church with Rev. Charles H. Quinn, assistant pastor, celebrant. Rev. George J. Pugh, assistant pastor, was in the sanctuary. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Thomas J. Mullen, Michael Laffey, Ralph Kalbaugh, John Ward, Raymond Hudson, Joseph Dempsey, John Determan and Kenneth Wilcox.

Honorary allbearers were Mervin High, James Laffey, John Dugan, Robert Stump, Warren Bohr, Richard Carey, Michael Graney, Patrick McGoye, DeSales Bissett, Peter Connelly, Tony Greco, Wilbur Myers, James Hanley, James Healy and Frank Jackson.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Peter Codire, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kastner, Mrs. Katherine King, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, Silver Spring; Joseph Campbell and Miss Deal Lydon, Washington, D. C.; Miss Adele Clancy, Miss Nell Clancy, Mrs. Margaret Fallecker, Miss Regina Fallecker, Greensburg, Pa.; Mrs. Florence Keller, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Keller, Mrs. Virginia Keller, Mrs. Virginia Trenum, Kitzmiller; Mr. and Mrs. William Keller Sr., Rev. William Keller Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Keller and son, Buckhannon; Edward Winning, James Winning, Clarksburg; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Ormond Fisher, Everett, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Byer, Cumberland; John Rokisky, James Healy and daughter Catherine, Keyser."
