SLEDD, Kenneth Ray, Sr., 52, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2000, at his home in Salem. He was employed by the Roanoke County School Board for 33 years as a mechanic. He is preceded in death by his parents, James R. Sledd, Sr., and Minnie Sledd, his brother, James R. Sledd, Jr.; and nephew, William Charles Sledd, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Sledd; his son, Kenneth Ray Sledd, Jr., and wife Vanessa; granddaughter, Kayla Sledd; stepdaughter, Cheryl King and husband, Bruce; three stepgrandsons, Jason and Brandon King, and Gary Patterson; stepson, David Walk and fiance, Chrissy Pettry, and her children, Joey and Samantha Pettry; one brother, William Charles Sledd, Sr., of Salem; three sisters, Joan Davis and husband, Wayne, Brenda Bryant and husband, Gary, and Barbara Lamb and husband, Robert, all of Salem; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Salem, with the Rev. Gary Butcher officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Burial Park.
