she didn't get married to Newton Griffin officially until 1881, they started having
kids in 1873.
Parents Albert Goodman and Mary Jane Goodman, born in Hampton Cty,
Virginia.
Note - although Julia's records don't state specifically that she was born in
Ft Monroe, her parents were born in Hampton County (when it was a county)
and her brother Jasper was born in Fort Monroe. There was a time when
the commanding officer of Fort Monroe allowed slaves to come into the fort for protection and became free men... worth looking up...
She had two other children that I can't find after the 1880/1900 census:
Lonnie Griffin (b. 1878, Norfolk, VA) and Solomon Willie Griffin
(B. 1883, Norfolk ,Virginia).
Siblings Ida, Jasper and Willis are also buried in Calvary Cemetery.
