During World War II, approximately 17,000 Belgians were involved in the resistance against their country's invaders. Many were public and political figures whom were either killed in action, executed or died in concentration camps. The monument in Brussels, Belgium, is placed over the recovered unknown cremated remains and dedicated to their memory by a grateful country.
