NORFOLK - Sara V. Bryant , 85, of the 3000 block of Myrtle Ave., died Nov. 27, 2010, in her home. Born in Dinwiddie County, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and became a homemaker. She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church and the former president of Usher Board I.

She is survived by two sons, John R. Bland (Valarie) and James E. Bland (Shirley); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; Mattie Lyons of Petersburg, Va., Richard Allen (Arnid) of Virginia Beach; and Russell Lyons (Barbara) of Suitland, Md.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Bryant.

A funeral will be held Thursday at noon in New Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. William M. Small presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery. A wake will be held today from 6 to 7 p.m. Condolences may be offered at www.gravesfuneralhomeinc.com. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
