Funeral services for Mrs. Mary G. Almond Garrett will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Beech Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, March 1, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garrett passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, at Minden Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 11, 1911, and was a lifelong resident of Webster Parish. She was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher and church secretary/treasurer for 40 years. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Turner Lumber Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cortez Garrett; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vander Almond; two brothers, Ernest and Turner Almond; and a nephew, Bobby Almond.

She is survived by her nephews, Turner Almond Jr., Richard Garrett, Bruce Garrett, Larry Garrett, and Rodney Matzko; nieces, Gwendolyn McKellar, Jamie Gaithen, Peggy Nelson, Martha Strickland, Elaine Hertlein and Julia Matzko; two brothers-in-law, J. B. Garrett and W. J. Garrett; and sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Matzko.
