He enlisted in the Army on July 20, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed in trades and services and also as Single, without dependents.

Albert was declared "Missing In Action" when the USAT Dorchester was torpedoed by German U-boat U-223 during the war in the Atlantic and sunk. He was was awarded a Purple Heart.
