Obituary:
Charles E. Bailey, 70, of Ardmore, AL, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 8, at 2 p.m. in the Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery with military honors. Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bailey was a 22-year highly decorated veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in Vietnam and also flew a reconnaissance mission called Gold Digger Missions over Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from General Motors Plant 21 Dept. 30. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Ann Bailey, and a son, Charles "Sonny" Bailey.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Romaine Bailey; one son, Richard D. Bailey of Ardmore, AL; one daughter, Charlotte Alexander of Lynnville, TN; one brother, Jim Bailey, Jr. of Ardmore, AL; two sisters, Dorothy Pool of Memphis, TN, and Rena Mae Reyer of Ardmore, TN; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Nely of Ft. Riley, KS, Christina Pilot of Pulaski, Earl Bailey of Lewisburg, Keith and B.J. Bailey of Ardmore, and Erica Alexander of Lynnville, TN; one great-grandchild, J.
