Mrs. Mary Helzer Dead.

Mrs. Mary Helzer, 74, wife of John Helzer, died at midnight, Tuesday night at her home, 415 East.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Seventh Day Advent church, Second and Constitution. Interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.

Services for Mrs. Helzer

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Helzer, who died Tuesday night at her home, 415 East, were held Friday afternoon in the Seventh Day Adventist church. Services were conducted by Rev. G.E. Wiest, of Topeka, and Ed Lewis sang. The pallbearers were: J.O. Workman, L.T. Bang, Andrew Beach, Roy Clay, J.L. Groh and Frank Reider. Interment was made in Maplewood.

Mrs. Mary Helzer was born November 5, 1854, in Dittel, Russia. She was married June 15, 1876, to Fred Barrett, and they came to Kansas that same year settling on farm northeast of Emporia. They later moved to Emporia, where Mr. Barrett worked as a teamster. After the death of Mr. Barrett, Mrs. Barrett was married April 18, 1918 to John Helzer. Mrs. Helzer had been ill about eight years before her death. Mrs. Helzer is survvied by her husband, John Helzer, and one sister, Mrs. Katie Herdt, of Russell. Mrs. Helzer was a member of the Lutheran church in Russia, and later became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Emporia.
